Starting September 29, Hamilton Council meetings will be webcast live and available on-demand.

As reported by the Herald, champion of the proposal and Hamilton Councillor Angela O’Leary commented:

“This is about transparency and accountability. Ratepayers can now see how the people they’ve elected vote, debate and behave. Often people only get half the story on issues under discussion at council, but this will give a 100 per cent, factually correct record of who said what.”

BayBuzz has proposed webcasting to the Hastings, Napier and Regional Councils.

HDC is progressing the matter most diligently.

It’s been slow-moving at HBRC … maybe a staff report in November. A nice way to present for feedback the new proposed HBRC Land and Water Strategy, I would argue.

And at NCC: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! But then, even Baybuzz would have a hard time justifying the video-recording of Napier’s nothing-burger Council meetings.
