Iona College: Empowering Girls’ for life

August 17, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Lottie's concert

Want to support a really good cause? Come along to a variety concert at the beautiful Blyth Theatre at Iona College on Tuesday 17th August, to help raise funds to support young Kenyan women to get an education. Here’s what the organisers, 4 young students at Iona, have to say about the concert and the cause.

“We are four Year 12 girls who are working on a Social Action Project. This is a project that Iona pupils undertake to give back to the community both nationally and internationally. We are fundraising to help girls in Pokot, Kenya to further their education rather than being forced into child marriages. We have partnered with a NZ skincare company called Essence of Humanity and we are selling their NZ-made skincare products. All profits from this skincare range go to the girls’ education in Kenya. Read more about the company at https://www.theessenceofhumanity.com/

As a group, we feel strongly that all girls should be able to receive an education no matter where and how they live. We are really passionate about this cause and have organised a concert to raise funds for this cause. We will use the concert profits to purchase Essence of Humanity products and put together pamper packs that will be donated to Womens’ Refuge. The poster below has more information about the concert. It would be amazing to see some of you here supporting our efforts – and please bring a friend or three!”
