he demography of New Zealand has changed dramatically in the last decade (a rapidly ageing population, declining fertility, much greater ethnic diversity as a result of recent immigration gains, population stagnation or even decline in some regions – or parts of regions), and these changes will continue to change the country’s population through the 2030s and 2040s. The regions have their own story of demographic change, Hawke’s Bay included.
