Small Hall Sessions: Jackie Bristow
April 16 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
It’s a long way from Nashville Tennessee to Patoka! (12, 927.48 kilometres apparently!)
Jackie has lived overseas for the best part of twenty years now, her career taking her from Gore in Southland to Sydney, on to LA and then settling in Nashville. Home to visit family in early 2020 she did a small tour, including a Sitting Room Session at So Vintage in Te Awanga, fully expecting to be back in the US for their summer and a busy touring schedule … the best laid plans, huh?
She has spent two years in Wanaka now, loving time close to family, putting the finishing touches to her latest, her fourth album, and planning, cancelling, rescheduling, re-evaluating …. and finally out on the road again with a tour in support of the new album.
And what an album it is! Receiving rave reviews and really significant airplay on American radio. She chatted to Jim Mora on RNZ last sunday, have a listen Here.
Jackie has a superb soprano voice, and is a fantastic songwriter. Her style is best described as Americana, but she effortlessly blends soul, rock, pop and country together, and her live shows are wonderfully engaging, she has that Southland charm and down to earth nature that happily strips away all bullshit!
Here is an artist that has played and toured with some of the truly great names in music: Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs, Foreigner, Chris Isaak & many more.
So get along over the coming week, it’s Easter weekend, lots of days off, and our little bar will be bringing delight to communities that haven’t had a purveyor of fine libations for many a year!
Be adventurous, visit a hall that you’ve never been to before and experience some very fine music and hospitality.
