Mai i te kei o ngā waka ki te ihu o ngā waka presents three haerenga (meaning journey, trip, parting) exploring contrasting yet interlinked stories of migration. The title this work translates in English to “from the front of the canoes to the back of the canoes”, suggesting multiple viewpoints that comprise a collective journey.
Sorawit Songsataya: Comfort Zone
Comfort Zone focuses on the kōtuku and their only nesting grounds in Aotearoa New Zealand to explore the limits of human understanding, and the distances we put between ourselves and other species. Songsataya has woven together footage of nesting kōtuku with images and animations exploring proximities between the human, non-human, and celestial.
