Principal Mark Cleary at William Colenso College says “shivering builds character” to students complaining of cold classrooms.

The health & safety code says classrooms should be heated to 18C. But it seems the school has “other priorities” than providing heat to ten classrooms whose temperatures have plummeted to 13C on some days.

To further build character, perhaps Cleary should eliminate lunch for students as well. Sharp hunger pangs will help keep students alert, offsetting the drowsiness caused by the cold, and add another period for instruction as well. A true win-win for the school administration.

Baybuzz is wondering … Is the principal’s office unheated? We doubt it!

We tried reaching Mr. Cleary for a temperature report, but he was busy brewing a hot chocolate.
