When the country returns to Alert Level 1, Hawke’s Bay will be once again able to host large-scale events that generate much-needed economic spinoff for the region.

In March 2021, Hawke’s Bay is confirmed to host the New Zealand Track and Field Championships at Mitre 10 Sports Park, the first large-scale national event on the calendar.

The prestigious athletics event attracts more than 600 top athletes from around the country – including many household names – who will compete for national titles. Thousands of spectators are expected, in person or via international television coverage where you can watch from the comfort of your couch.

Athletics New Zealand is currently on the hunt for event sponsors, suppliers and partners, and will also take “in kind” support.

“Connecting and involving the Hawke’s Bay business community is pivotal to the success of this event and the local economy. We want to engage with local businesses and give them the opportunity to bask in the glory of sporting success, right in their own backyard,” says Athletics New Zealand’s commercial and marketing manager Jo Clark.
