BayBuzz invited the Hastings mayoral candidates, on short notice, to provide a last statement to the voters before the polling window closes.

Peter Nee Harland took us up on the offer.

In his statement, Peter asks, “who do you think will fight for your rights?”, asserting that Mayor Yule has “demonstrated by his actions that he is prepared to overrule the public’s expressed wishes,” and that opponent Simon Nixon has “never been involved in a fight with the Council.”

He also notes his concern for the environment: “I am adamant that the present practice of pumping screened but otherwise untreated sewerage into the Bay must stop.”

He closes with “every single person who lives in the Hastings District is entitled to lead a happy and contented life. No exceptions. No favors. Just good leadership.”
