Standing For: Napier City Council
Mayor and Taradale Ward

Voter Guide Profile Mayor: Elect me for positive strategic change. I enjoy serving our city. If you want change and you care, you need to change the Mayor. My public service experience spans 45 years, from Local Government volunteer to Regional Manager to elected governance. I have a thorough knowledge of Local Government and Central Government systems. Reviews and reform have been constants; those experiences equip me well to lead major changes needed to equip Napier City for the future. All my roles have required me to interpret legislation and regulation, develop strategy, policy and facilitate implementation programmes and projects. In 2016 I completed a Master of Business Administration, confirming my skills in governance, leadership, strategy, finance, and change management. Continuous professional development equips me with prudent visionary and strategic decision-making skills. I have negotiated with and advised Ministers of the Crown, Mayors, Chief Executives, and worked closely with communities to achieve community outcomes.

Voter Guide Profile Taradale Ward: I ‘love Taradale’ and working for our residents; urban, rural, business, sporting, young and old. Since 2019, I have taken every opportunity to achieve improvements in the Taradale ward area. I serve on the Taradale Business Association, regularly attend Taradale Residents Association, service club meetings and have worked with staff and residents to improve our community, our shopping precincts, our streets and our reserves. As your representative, this term I have held the Community Resilience Portfolio, been a member of the Hearings, Council Projects Fund and Community Arts Grants Committees, Alternative member for HB CDDEM Joint Committee, Deputy Chairman of HB Crematorium Joint Committee, member on Clifton Tangoio Coastal Hazards Strategy Joint Committee and alternate for Omarunui Joint Refuse Landfill Committee (a CCO). We need good governance, leadership and certainty on strategic issues for the future of Napier, which is why I am standing again: To get things done.
