Standing For: Hastings District Council
Takitimu Māori Ward
Voter Guide Profile: He rōia a Bevan, he kaipakihi, he kaitautoko i ngā mōtika o te iwi Māori. Māna e ārahi a Takitimu ki tētahi Heretaunga Hou — he kaunihera ka whakarongo, ka whakapau pūtea tika, ā, ka mahi i runga i te mana. Mai i te wai, ki ngā rēti, ki ngā rori — me tika ngā mahi matua, me noho tonu te Māori ki te tēpu whakatau.
He uri a Bevan nō Kahutianui, mokopuna a Kahungunu, ā, e tū ana ia hei moko whakahī. Kua rua tekau tau ia e mahi ana i te ture me ngā kaupapa hapori. Ka wero ia i ngā ture kino, ka hiki i te rangatiratanga.
Ahakoa i kōrero kē ngā reo Māori, he maha ngā wā kāore i rangona, kāore i whakarangatira. Kei te tū a Bevan ki te tiaki i te Rōpū Māori.
Mahi. Mana. Manaaki.
Pōtihia a Bevan O’Connor mō Takitimu.
Bevan is a lawyer, business owner, and advocate for Māori rights. He brings legal expertise and practical leadership experience. He’s standing to steer Takitimu toward a Heretaunga Hou — a council that listens, spends wisely, and acts with mana. From water to rates to roads, Bevan wants council to get the basics right while keeping Māori at the decision-making table.
Bevan descends from Kahutianui, mokopuna of Kahungunu, and proudly stands here as one of his many moko. Bevan has spent two decades working in law, policy, and community kaupapa. He challenges bad policy and uses his platform to amplify rangatiratanga. Māori have always held mana whenua in Aotearoa, but we haven’t always held a seat at the table – Bevan stands to protect the Māori Ward.
His kaupapa is: Mahi. Mana. Manaaki.
Do the mahi. Carry the Mana. Uplift our people.
Vote Bevan O’Connor for Takitimu Māori Ward.
