Voter Guide Profile: Ko Trevor Waikawa nō ngā uri o Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa, Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Pāhauwera me Te Whakakī nui a Rua hoki. I was born and raised here, by people and whenua that continue to inspire me every day.

I’m standing for the Wairoa Māori Ward as a proud young Māori, bringing youth, fresh energy, and passion – backed by years of local government experience. My background in environmental sciences, governance, iwi and community engagement, strategic planning, communications, and relationship building equips me to serve Wairoa with confidence and care.

I am committed to our people, rangatahi, taiao, and the future of Wairoa. I value transparency, collaboration, and partnership, and will work for Council, iwi, and organisations to work together better.

If elected, I will lead with integrity and purpose – ensuring Māori voices are heard and Wairoa thrives for generations to come. Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui tātau.
