People know who I am, what I stand for, and what service they get.
I’m not a yes-sir kinda lady.
I am always a DM or text away.
But in case you do want to know.
I am an open book – ask me anything about myself and I will answer. Some council matters cannot be answered as readily for obvious reasons. Am I political? – no more than anyone else who pays rates, pays tax and struggles with overreaching power. Politika matters – bullshit does not. Do I work for the people (the ratepayer) – yes – all people in all communities. Will everyone always be happy – no. Will it always be right for everyone – no. Can and should clear reasoning be given either way – yes.
I will always stand for coastal protection, and the cost of this distributed far and wide. It is no different to any other water protection that we all pay for, and I am grateful that I live at and can visit or stay at beaches or rivers. .. the classic kiwi holiday What makes me qualified to sit around the table for you? I have a Diploma in Video and Electronic Media. I was a Business Manager and a Business Development Manager, and then an Operations Manager in Engineering and Waste sectors. I have written policies, and succeeded in tenders, and government funding partnerships. I am a Qualified Sheet Metal Engineer. And a Certified Hearings Commissioner. I with my husband have bootstrapped our wine company, Saorsa Wines and have worked hard to accrue property for our children’s future. A rare skillset that gives me an understanding of finances, marketing, policy, infrastructure and humans. The most trying day of my career was writing a cadaver policy for the silt and slash plants days after the cyclone.
Best days of serving is when I put on my FENZ clothing. Or when I help communities or people behind closed doors. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and I have calluses on my hands, I am covered in tattoos, I put my hair up in a mohawk, and I will not dress to appease the majority.
The best thing in my life – My husband and three children. Aged 21, 11, 03. And obviously our beloved family and friends. I am what you see is what you get. Loyal and feisty, articulating (with gunpowder and the odd expletive) your voices to the best of my ability around the table.
