Voter Guide Profile: As a freelance rural writer/editor, and a positive and inquisitive person, I’m proud of my background in Young Farmers, playcentre and school committees, sports organisations such as Takapau Tennis, and Takapau and Ōtāne fire brigades. Fire & Emergency NZ is an important part of my life: I am a volunteer firefighter, member of the regional Recovery Team helping house-fire victims, FireWise presenter and Local Advisory Committee chair. I am on the NZ Farm Environment Trust and Takapau Centennial Trust. Thomas and I have two university-aged children and have always lived and worked rurally. I want to make the most of my knowledge and experience while representing the myriads of differing opinions in our community. My two terms on CHBDC have been a challenging learning curve. It’s tough, but we need to keep the pressure on to fix our infrastructure for future generations and obviously affordability is key.
