Standing For: Napier City Council
Ahuriri Ward
Voter Guide Profile: A lifelong Bay View local, born, raised and educated right here in Napier. My wife Anna and I have been married 37 years, raised three children, and are now proud grandparents.
I’m a passionate small business owner — an orchardist by trade and former retailer, so I understand firsthand the challenges local businesses face.
For the past 15 years, I’ve served on the board of Summerfruit NZ, including terms as Chair and Vice Chair. This experience has sharpened my governance skills and strengthened my belief in practical, community-focused leadership.
Local government should focus on the core responsibilities that affect our daily lives – infrastructure, safety, and services – and deliver them with fiscal responsibility.
Good decisions start with listening to the community, applying common sense, collaborating and using real-world experience. Napier is a great place, and I’m standing for Council to help ensure it stays that way – safe, sustainable and well
run.
