Project Do Less Tiles

I didn’t even know this was a thing! Am so pleased it is 😍

While our council doesn’t recycle soft plastics, the wonderful people at Love NZ Soft Plastics Recycling do!

You can find their bins at Countdown, The Warehouse, New World, Pak’n Save stores and other locations found here – https://www.recycling.kiwi.nz/store-locator

As long as it is clean, dry and empty, they will accept all soft plastic bags including:
– bread bags
– frozen food bags
– toilet paper packaging
– confectionery and biscuit wrap
– chip bags
– pasta and rice bags
– courier envelopes
– sanitary hygiene packaging
– squeeze pouches
– dry pet food bags
– lightly foiled coffee and tea bags
– garden and compost bags
– and basically anything made of soft plastic which can be scrunched into a ball.

NB. They do NOT accept compostable plastic bags or plant based plastics.

What happens to it? It is blended with other plastics to manufacture plastic fence posts, vegetable gardens and parking bumpers right here in New Zealand – amazing 🤩

Tomorrow we’ll look at the fourth tip: Lids, tops, caps and stuff like that.
