Third consecutive day: no new cases for Hawke’s Bay.
The focus is now on ensuring there’s no surprise pockets of community transmission. Along with upping the testing around the country, there is some targeted sentinel testing within certain communities (such as Queenstown) underway and capacity has been increased with two new laboratories coming on board. In the last week alone (9-15 April), over 800 tests were carried out in Hawke’s Bay (representing a third of our total regional testing).
Today PM Jacinda Ardern laid out what life under Level 3 will look like. For many parents struggling with managing the online schooling of their kids (so full on!), one of the best bits of detail to come out of this, is the prospect of schools reopening to pupils up to and including Year 10. Small mercies.
