Not surprisingly, the Art Dec Trust, one of HB’s most venerable tourism-driven institutions, has been forced to downsize sharply due to tourism collapse.
In a press statement (full statement here), chairman Michael Fowler discussed the impact of overseas visitor loss on the Art Deco retail shop, walking tours and vintage car tours in particular.
The July winter Art Deco Festival will be cancelled, but focus will now be placed on the Summer Festival. Fowler noted the Festival was far less dependent on overseas visitors, with 97% of the annual festival goers being Kiwis.
