Objective background info on each council

The Local Government Act requires each council to prepare an objective Pre-election Report on its state of affairs – e.g., issues on the table, financial information – to help inform voters during the election window.

As required by law, the report is prepared by the council’s Chief Executive, independently of the Mayor and Councillors.

These reports are excellent background for any voter wanting to be well-informed as you weigh the ‘alternative’ facts and claims proffered by candidates.

And candidates, you would do well to fact-check your campaign pronouncements against these reports.

  1. Just based on these reports, any person standing for any council who promises rates relief should not be on the ballot!
