Unfortunately, cycling infrastructure is a very poor compromise in our cities. Driver behaviour increases the danger for cyclists, and therein lies a huge problem if we want to make cycling more attractive for short journeys. We could learn a lot from the changes that the Netherlands introduced from about 1973.
