Forget overpriced single roses in cellophane as a Valentine’s Day gesture, Napier City Business Inc has joined forces with The Hits and Market Street Bar & Eatery and gone the whole hog, giving away a wedding! You read right, an actual wedding and they’ll even throw in the celebrant – The Hits very own Megan Banks.
Napier City Business Inc general manager Pip Thompson says with so many weddings called off or not even making the planning stages due to COVID, it was time to “show the love” in the Napier CBD.
“In the spirit of supporting local, we approached businesses to be part of a couple’s big day and I’m stoked so many have agreed to participate and generously donate their products to make this wedding day happen.”
The ‘Married @ Market Street’ wedding will take place in Market Street on Friday 12 February. To “win” the wedding, applicants need to head to the win section at thehits.co.nz and apply, answer a few questions and be willing to have their faces used for promotional purposes.
The winning couple will be able to invite 30 of their nearest and dearest to celebrate the day with them. On the day of the wedding, The Hits Hawke’s Bay Breakfast show will broadcast LIVE on air from the Market Street Green and Market St Bar and Eatery for the wedding breakfast. The ceremony will air from 8am and throughout the show, hosts Adam and Megan will inform listeners what is happening.
“When we first heard the initial concept about Married @ Market St we jumped on board immediately,” says Market St Bar and Eatery owners Sarah and Steve Kelly. “It’s such a fun offering and we love working within such a collaborative CBD where everyone pulls together. It conjures up exactly what Market St is about; fun, vibrancy and togetherness.
“Last year was tough on many businesses so we are looking forward to starting the year off with a bang with events like this. The winners of “Married @ Market Street” will be announced live on air on Friday 5th of February, allowing us one week to bring everything together for the wedding!”
There will be an opportunity for Hawke’s Bay locals and visitors to get selfies or maybe even ‘pop the question’ at the Love Lights during the weekend, located in the Market Street/Emerson Street Green from Friday 12 February to 9.30pm on Sunday 14 February.
