Strong winds and heavy rain are expected to affect the Hastings District on Sunday. 

For your safety, please do not visit our parks during this time, as there is a risk of falling branches and tree limbs.

Parks closed

The following parks and reserves will be closed as a precaution:

• Evers‑Swindell Reserve – from Friday afternoon
• Haumoana Domain – from Friday afternoon
• Waimārama Domain – from Saturday afternoon
• Tauroa Reserve – from Saturday afternoon

These closures will remain in place until conditions allow safe access.

Next steps

Our teams will begin inspecting parks across the district throughout next week, once weather conditions improve. Parks will reopen once they are assessed as safe. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation while we prioritise public safety.
