Anna Jepson and Sue Lock are legends. Each year the duo put on a tennis event to raise funds for Hastings Women’s Refuge, this year raising $12,000.

Held last week, the Hastings Women’s Refuge Charity Tennis Tournament saw 64 players across eight courts slug it out, with the semifinals and finals held at Anna’s home on the outskirts of Havelock North.

The money raised by the duo and their guests will go towards the renovation of a Women’s Refuge safe house.

“It’s an incredible day,” says Anna. “Sue and I are so fortunate to have generous sponsors who support us and donate their time and goods. There were some fantastic raffle and auction lots including Bayswater European’s 2022 ASB women’s tennis tournament hosting package, Rae and Ben Gaddum’s Italian Long Lunch and the Horrocks’s Hawkhill Cottage accommodation prize. The Supernova girls provided cocktails and had all of their ingredients donated, so that certainly added a sparkle to the event!”

Next year’s tournament will again be held in late March, so plenty of time to get practising out on the court.
