John Cowpland – Life as a Sport Photographer

John has been a professional photographer for over 30 years – starting as a military photographer before starting to work for newspapers and for the past 20 years, working for himself.
For the past 25 years John has been based in Hawkes Bay but workingaround the country and the world covering major news and sports eventsincluding various world cups and the Olympics.Over the years he has won plenty of awards – including this year’s”Best Photography – Sports” at the Voyager Media Awards. This adds to a bronze in the gymnastics category of the World Sports Photography Awards last month.
Come along and hear about John’s time covering the Olympics in Tokyo last year – and learn how to use the same techniques John used to shoot the All Blacks to get the best photos of your own athletes -using the camera gear you have.
