Rehua celebrations – Te Takanga o te Rā o Raumati/Summer solstice

kia ora koutou, join us for a community get together for karakia at the Ātea a Rangi, Waitangi Regional Park. Come and listen to our local experts who live amongst us, as they share their mātauranga of our environment at this time of summer. Rehua/Antares in Te Matau a Māui/Scorpius rising pre dawn is our summer seasonal marker. At 5.00am please wait quietly at the waharoa/entrance and wait for the pūtātara to sound and karakia to start. Please do not walk in front of the karakia roopū and please turn your phones off too. We will pause for sunrise then there will be time to share coffee together and catch up. Bring your own keep cup (some coin or card) for a hot drink with Geraldine of Pai Kai Coffee Cart. All our events are para kore / zero waste is our aim. Nau mai – everybody is welcome!
