Southland sisters, Jenny Mitchell and The Mitchell Twins, are bringing their harmony filled show to Hawkes Bay this November. Raised in a home of Dolly Parton, Tom T Hall and Kacey Musgraves the Mitchell sisters are comfortable with a country twang or a softly spoken ballad and are steadily capturing fans across Aotearoa.
Jenny is a 2022 Aotearoa Music Award finalist and a storyteller with songs wrapped in wisdom and wit. Her music defies easy categorisation but if you admire music by genre-defying artists from Emmylou Harris to Kasey Chambers, you’ll love Jenny Mitchell. By her side, The Mitchell Twins (Maegan and Nicola) have a clear musical vision; a blend of folk/country music and their deep connection with Te Reo Māori.
As seen on Seven Sharp, Jenny’s new album ‘Tug of War’ features the 2022 APRA Best Country Song; Trouble Finds a Girl featuring Tami Neilson. Described by Rolling Stone as, “her best work yet,” the album finds Jenny at her most raw and honest while creating a musical work that’s as rich and fertile as the farming country where she grew up.
