Small Hall Sessions – TE KAAHU & Arahi
December 8, 2022 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
In the past we have worked primarily with well established artists, bringing musicians with national and international reputations to the small halls of Hawke’s Bay.
This time we are doing something a little different. Arahi is a young local artist who is rapidly gaining a reputation on the national stage, but is not well known outside of Hawek’s Bay … yet!
TE KAAHU is a new project by a well established artist from another genre entirely!
These Sessions will be sublime, and revalatory, introducing you to a depth of new work that will fill you with hope and optimism about the future of New Zealand music.
Having established an incredible career within the electronic music field, with millions of plays on streaming platforms, Theia is known widely in NZ and across the world. Over the last two years she has worked on devising new music, that honours her ancestory and projects the past into a contemporary place. This is music that channels something ancient and brings it to vibrant new life.
It is fair to say that my discovery of TE KAAHU, after an introduction by Delaney Davidson, has been the most exciting musical discovery for me of the past twelve months, and I am so honoured that she has agreed to present her music in the tiny community halls of HB.
Arahi has grown up in Hawke’s Bay, and all his life music has been at the centre of his world. The last six years have seen him develop and grow as an artist, exploring new feilds, being inspired by such a wide variety of influences, and producing a very fine body of work. He has featured with is own large scale shows in the last two Hawke’s Bay Arts Festivals.
His Sessions will showcase his songwriting abilities, alongside his skills as a musican, in a pure and simple form; voice, guitar and piano.
