Mural Art & Storytelling on tour from North America
The Beehive Collective is making a tour stop here in Hawke’s Bay with their enormous and intricately detailed art murals, poetry, and engaged Storytelling. Coming all the way from North America, this is their first-ever tour of Aotearoa.
Come see the Beehive’s 3-metre-high by 6-metre-wide mural entitled “The true cost of coal” which uses nature metaphors to explain complex and interconnected social and environmental issues. Created over the course of 3.5 years in collaboration with Appalachian coalfield organisers, faith communities, Indigenous peoples, unionists, environmentalists, and community activists, the true cost of coal is an intersectional masterpiece. Join us for a rhyming and participatory storytelling, discussion, and Q&A with members of the collective.
