Here are the Buzz events recommendations for the week starting Monday, June 21st – my wee handful of not-to-be-missed picks:

French Film Festival Aotearoa

Check out the programme here, it looks so good! I’m trying to figure out the life logistics of setting up camp at Havelock North’s Event Cinemas from June 24 to July 7.

Get your dose of that very specific brand of urbane humour in A Friendly Tale, plus history in De Gaulle, grit in The Godmother and Night Shift, drama (try marital thriller Appearances). And there looks like there’s lots of sexy French romance to fall into too. it’s all here. Voila!

Whakanuia Matariki ki Heretaunga

From 5pm on Friday, June 25 at Flaxmere Village Green you’ll find singers, dancers, kapa haka, bands and hip hop dancers – loads of fun for all ages at this family Matariki celebration. The evening finishes up a procession of light and life, and then fireworks.

More info here.

F.A.W.C! Club Tropicana

Brave the chill, don something summery / tropical-chic and head for Central Fire Station on Friday, June 25.

Sip rum-laden cocktails and nibble on chef Sam Clarke’s twist on the classics – Hawaiian-style fried Bostock Brothers chicken burger, tuna poke bowl using the freshest local fish, sushi rolls and more.

This is a walk-up event. More info here.

It’s winter, but let’s not be hermits! See you out there. And keep an eye on our full events listing here.
