Here are the Buzz events recommendations for the week starting Monday, June 28th  – my wee handful of not-to-be-missed picks:

Prophets & Peacemakers

BayBuzz’s very own Keith Newman is in conversation at the Common Room with the Rev Jill McDonald in the next session of her ‘public theology’ events – Common Good. Keith will speak about Aotearoa’s rich history of prophets like Ratana, Te Whiti and Tohu, having written four books on the subject of prophets, peace and the Treaty.

Magpies

First Ranfurly Shield defense of the season! Head to McLean Park on Wednesday, June 30 to see the ‘pies take on North Otago. Pretty sure it’s not going to be a challenge for the ages … but it’ll be great to see the team back on the pitch. Tickets here.

Assassins

There is something about theatre in the winter. The Theatre HB production of the Stephen Sondheim musical is on until July 10. Check out our article by Kay Bazzard here for the background.

More French Films

How good is the French Film Festival?! On now at Event Cinemas, Havelock North until July 7th. Details here.

It’s winter, but let’s not be hermits! See you out there. And keep an eye on our full events listing here.
