Hello, weekend! Despite the cooler temps, there is still loads to warm up with during the week ahead. Here are the BayBuzz events recommendations for the week starting Saturday, July 10th:

Matariki at Hastings District Libraries

From July 2nd to 15th there is a varied Matariki event schedule across all three libraries (Flaxmere, Hastings and Havelock North). Storytelling, waiata, makespaces and art sessions, baking and even the chance to make Matariki kites. Check out the details here.

The 3rd installment of The Small Hall Sessions

If you attended any of the Delaney Davidson & Barry Saunders shows in May or the Reb Fountain & Dave Khan gigs in June, you’ve probably already booked your choice of the small halls which make up the Darren Watson tour. Blues maestro Darren plays Tikokino, Sherenden, Otane, Waimarama and Te Awanga across Wednesday, July 7th to Sunday, July 11th.  If you haven’t got tickets yet, move quickly!

How amazingly warm and special have these shows been so far?! Brought to the region by Jamie Macphail, they’re a total winter highlight. You’ll find all the details here.

Snow in the Napier CBD

Following up the ACTUAL ICE on Napier windscreens this week, there’s snow in the CBD! Napier City Business Inc,  More FM Hawke’s Bay and NCC present the Napier CBD Snow Slope – a 20m x 10m slope, with supplied cardboard for sliding. It’s free for the kids to have a slide, so rug them up and head for the top of Emerson Street (near Lonestar) for some wintry fun over Saturday and Sunday, July 10th and 11thbetween 10 and 4.

Olive Copperbottom

Penny Ashton brings her fifteen Dickensian characters to Toitoi in her one-woman musical show. Love, gin and the pox – sounds like a great night out! It’s on for one showing only – Thursday, July 15th. Tickets here.

It’s winter, but let’s not be hermits!

See you out there. And keep an eye on our full events listing here.
