A poll just released by Horizon Research finds that 30% of New Zealanders feel the economic position of their household is worse or much worse than a year ago. Eighteen percent say they are better off, with 50% reporting ‘about the same’.

And 7% (equating to 248,000 individuals nationally)  believe they will lose their jobs and have difficulty finding another.

If that 7% were applied to the Hawke’s Bay employed population (83,076 in Mar 2019 per Infometrics), it would translate into about 5,800 individuals in the region fearing for their jobs.

Here is Hawke’s Bay’s employment profile with latest available data.
