Hastings is introducing new technology aimed at making their parking wardens more efficient … and safer. A release from HDC last week noted: “Wardens are increasingly being verbally abused by members of the public and the new system is intended to reduce health and safety risks for these workers.”

BayBuzz is curious about drivers’ commitment to paying for parking. So we have a one question survey for all HB drivers …

When you park in a metered or timed area, how often do you pay the fee or honour the time restriction?

  • Always … I’m totally law-abiding
  • Most of the time … we all have moments of weakness
  • Sometimes … when the mood strikes me
  • Rarely … I play the odds
  • Never … I pay enough in rates

You can record your answer here.

And of course all responses are anonymous!

We will report the results in a future BUZZ e-newsletter.

  1. Add another option: find somewhere nearby where you don’t have to pay and walk. The exercise feels good!

  2. And council’s wonder why their inner city retailers, are in struggle street! And the inner city seems dieing.
Really? When Big Box Retailers and Supermarkets just on the periforee of the CBD.
Offer FREE PARKING!!! Surely it’s not rocket science even, for council to understand that-or is it??
We all know car parks is a limited resource. But surely the powers that be could implement a 2 Hour FREE Parking Limit!! AND if.breached, after the opportunity to give an explanation fails.
Then results in the issueing of a hefty parking infringement notice!
Similar as they did ? Not sure about now? …in Taupo’s more often than Not, Thriving CBD.
