Bostock Brothers, owned 50% by brothers Ben and George and 50% by father John, has been sold to Australian-owned Inghams, the biggest chicken merchant in Australia and #2 in New Zealand (behind Tegel).
The $35.3 million deal requires approvals by the Commerce Commission and the Overseas Investment Office, so is still about six months away from final settlement.
The organic chicken business started from scratch ten years ago and has taken wing since then, producing now over 1 million chickens a year to become one of the best known food brands in Hawke’s Bay, with a reach beyond … about 15% of its production goes overseas.
While the deal is pending, the parties can’t comment in detail, but in an email to BayBuzz, George Bostock noted: “… it’s business as usual for us for now. The key part to us is that the business will continue to operate in Hawke’s Bay and to the same strict organic standard.”
Well done George and Ben!
A beautiful product, well managed.
A “Feel Safe” purchase that has never let us down.
