This is good news. An overdue initiative.

Our region’s councils have made a collective decision to promote awareness of all candidates standing for office in HB’s local body elections this year.

With BayBuzz’s online Election Central providing the only local media repository of information on over 100 candidates, it’s terrific to the councils’ websites, which also enjoy high visitor traffic, brought into play to help introduce candidates.

The councils are doing so objectively, in CHBDC’s case with each candidate providing a brief written profile and responding to a set of basic questions in brief video ‘interviews.

Questions asked of each candidate were:

  1. Why have you chosen to stand?
  2. What are your top priorities?
  3. Biggest challenges facing CHB?
  4. Why are you the right person for the role?

CHB District Council is first cab off the rank in launching this service. You can see what the result is here.

NCC is completing videos now. You can meet NCC candidates here.

HBRC and HDC are conducting their video interviews next week. In both cases you can find the videos on their council websites’ election page.
