Note these two great opportunities to get your creative juices flowing next weekend.

If you are into words, don’t miss the 2011 Hastings Festival of Writers, April 1-3.

A terrific selection of New Zealand writers, plus Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Proulx, will participate. Range of events (some free, some with fees) at Clearview Estate, Hastings City Art Gallery, Havelock North Library, Hawke’s Bay Opera House, and Pipi Restaurant. Download schedule here. Details on the Creative Hastings website.

If you are more into hands-on creativity, then the venue for you is the Weekend of Workshops @ Keirunga, running through the same April 1-3 weekend.

In all, twenty-six separate workshops — painting and drawing, pottery and ceramics, fabric and book art, writing, sustainable gardening, interior design and quilting. Ranged to suit beginners to experienced artists. Costs ranging from $20-$40 per person. Details on all the workshops on the Keirunga website.

Get your manual chores out of the way this weekend. Give your right-brain a workout next weekend!

  1. It seems ridiculous that the council charged with our waste disposal.. without an odour.. has not looked at the world leader in this field Ozone NZ, Napier.

This company has plants working throughout the world including Antarctica, yet it has been not even allowed to tender.

Wake up Hawke's Bay.. without Ozone NZ the worst is yet to come.

No I have no connection with the firm just a desire for the best technology to be brought into play.

At least, have a look at what Ozone has to offer.
